Just Haiti 2009 Reception at the Embassy of Haiti

Thanks for your interest in our April 25th reception at the Embassy of Haiti! It promises to be an exciting evening.

Father Pascal Pierre, our partner in Haiti, will be present to talk about how the project is progressing and what the growers are saying about it. We will have updated information about the project, including details about the proposal from the growers' association for a small loan that will sustain their project. We hope to raise enough funds at this event to cover the full cost of the loan. [September 2009 update on status of loan]

Along with wine and cheese, we will be serving plenty of Kafe Lespwa for you to sample. The reception will begin at 7:00 pm.

Directions to the Embassy of Haiti

The address of the Embassy is 2311 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, in the District (map). The Embassy is located not too far from the DuPont Circle Metro, and we recommend that those who can walk a few blocks, ride Metro! As you know, parking in the DuPont circle area can be difficult to find on a Saturday night. Exit the Metro on the north side, at Q Street. Go up the really long escalator, turn left on Q Street and walk about a block to Massachusetts Avenue. Turn right on Massachusetts, and continue walking north, crossing Florida Avenue and going through Sheridan circle, past R Street, to Decatur Street, NW. The embassy will be at Decator and Massachusetts.

If you are driving, give yourself 15 minutes to find parking.

If you are driving from Silver Spring, take Rt. 29 south to 16th Street. Then go south (left) on 16th Street through Columbia Heights all the way to Florida Avenue. Turn right on Florida Avenue, then continue to Massachusetts Avenue, which will be just south of Sheridan Circle. Turn right, going north around Sheridan Circle, past R Street. The Embassy will be on your right, at Decatur Place.

From the Beltway, exit at Georgia Avenue going south. Stay in the far right lane, veering right on 16th Street. Follow the directions above from 16th Street.

See you on April 25th!
